For those people interested in taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects, the City of Naperville will again offer its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.
CERT offers basic disaster response training skills in such areas as fire safety, light search and rescue, first aid, disaster medical operations and team organization, among many others. The purpose of the program is to better prepare citizens within the community should emergency situations arise.
Once participants complete the 17-hour program, they will be qualified to assist their neighborhoods or workplaces in cases of emergency when professional first responders cannot make it to the scene.
“Using the skills they learn in the classroom and from hands-on exercises in the field, it is our hope that CERT members will be able to take a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in the Naperville community,” said Citizen Corps Council Liaison John Flannery.
Participants must be 18 years of age and must either live or be employed in the City of Naperville. Interested parties should download the CERT Registration Form (PDF) and Hold Harmless Request (PDF) and submit both to:
