NSGI VIDEO CONTEST. The City of Naperville has extended the deadline for the video contest to highlight and promote the benefits of the Naperville Smart Grid Initiative (NSGI). Entries are now being accepted through Monday, October 15, 2012. Videos received will help the City educate utility customers about the NSGI, an infrastructure upgrade which gives customers more options in how they manage their energy use. Entrants will focus on one or all of the 4Es of the NSGI: Energy, Environment, Education and Economy. These four key areas summarize the lasting, positive effects of the NSGI. Entrants of all ages and abilities may submit up to four videos, each up to 30 seconds in length, which addresses the 4Es separately. One video per category will be accepted from each entrant. The public will be asked to vote on their favorite videos in each category prior to the Mayor and City Council members selecting the winning videos. NAPER SETTLEMENT JUNIOR INTERPRETERS MEETING. Naper Settlement is seeking volunteers in fourth and fifth grades to be junior interpreters from April through October. Juniors on the Green dress up in period clothing; demonstrate the toys, games and chores of the 19th century; and interact with the public. Boys and girls interested in becoming a Junior on the Green must be in fourth or fifth grade by April 1 of the current school year. They will receive comprehensive training in the history of the community and the museum, customer service and how children of the 19th century dressed, played and behaved. The time requirement is one three-hour weekend shift per month in April, May, September and October and one weekend and one weekday three-hour shift in June, July and August. A mandatory meeting for parents whose children are interested in becoming junior interpreters will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel, 523 S. North Central College invites the public to the free premiere of the fourth part of a documentary series produced with Naperville Community Television that chronicles the college’s 150-year history. “A Student-Centered Community” is the fourth of the five-part documentary series “A Promising Start,” which commemorates the college’s sesquicentennial. The City of Naperville is now seeking applicants for 2012 project funding for the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the City-funded Social Services Grant Program. SPORTSMAN'S PARK SITE REMEDIATION SESSION. On Wednesday, February 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Naperville Park District, in partnership with the City of Naperville, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and Shaw Environmental, will host an Availability Session for the public regarding the voluntary Site Remediation Program (SRP) for Sportsman’s Park. NAPERVILLE NORTH BOOSTER CLUB ANNUAL FASHION SHOW. On Sunday, February 26, the Naperville North Booster Club will host its 12th annual Seniors on Parade fashion show fundraiser at Bobak’s Signature Room, 6440 Double Eagle Drive, Woodridge. This fun and entertaining event features more than 100 male and female student models each representing their extra-curricular clubs and sports teams. These “Show Stopping Seniors” will walk the runway wearing a wide variety of fashions from local independent retailers as well as national chains with outlets in Naperville. FINGERPRINTING SERVICE HOURS CHANGE. The Naperville Police Department provides fingerprinting services to City of Naperville residents for a variety of licensing, securities and adoption processes. In order to make the process available to as many residents as possible, starting January 9, 2012, fingerprinting appointments will be available Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. by qualified lobby staff. In order to reserve an appointment time, contact the records division at (630) 420-6666. Appointments are scheduled in 15-minute increments and cost $10 per card.
