Tours of the Naperville Police Department are conducted at 3 and 4:15 p.m. every Thursday.
The tour lasts approximately one hour and advance registration is required. Facility tours are informative, as well as educational, and they are provided to help residents better understand the workings of a police department. The Naperville Police Department is a 24 hour workplace, and therefore tours are limited to school-age children and above.
More than 1000 individuals tour the facility every year. The majority of these visitors are Scout groups that come to learn more about what police officers do and what a jail looks like.
Tours are conducted by police personnel or police department volunteers and include the following when possible:
Front Desk/Lobby
- Police Records
- Roll Call Room
- Jail
- Line up Room
- Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). This is where the 911 calls are answered.
- Special Response Team vehicles
Additionally, tour guides will address the topics of police equipment, traffic control, the K-9 unit and evidence.
Please keep in mind that all tours are subject to last minute cancellations and/or certain areas of the department may not be available at the time of the visit.
