How Can I Get Help for a Stormwater Concern?

Introduction

Stormwater can evoke a number of emotions depending on the season and where you live and can even impact scheduled plans for the day.  Various forms of vegetation from food crops to residential lawns depend on regular rainfall, while “raindates” are dreaded for planned events from outdoor ceremonies to baseball games.  As a homeowner, hopefully rainfall events do not cause negative stress, worrying about soggy yards or structure flooding.  If you have questions or concerns about stormwater, this website provides information that can help.

The City of Naperville has developed a Stormwater Management Plan, which utilizes storm sewers, detention basins, and overflow routes in an effort to keep water out of homes and businesses.  While the city maintains most of the stormwater facilities, it also relies on the public’s cooperation in ensuring these facilities are operating to their designed capacity.  The stormwater system can experience failures due to natural causes (debris blocking a storm sewer inlet after a storm) or other actions (placement of landscaping in overflow routes).
